Varsity Cheer practice will begin on Monday, August 17th in the wrestling room at CHS. Practice times TBD at this point. Tryouts for the JV Cheer Team, and any Varsity roster spots will be held the first week of September.
Masks Or buffs are required the entire practice, hand sanitizer Is provided and social distancing is practiced as much as possible.
Sports physicals are required on or before the 17th.
Regular team practices, when in person school begins, are Monday and Tuesday nights, 5:30-7:15 and Thursday morning 6:00-7:10.
The Bruin Cheer Team has tryouts each May for the following season which begins in August. However, new students and transfer students are encouraged to contact Coach Bannon, to discuss cheerleading experience and potential opportunities to become a member of the team. Depending on individual skills and abilities we try to accommodate those students who weren’t able to attend tryouts.
Cheer Team consists of 15-18 varsity cheerleaders, 12- 14 JV cheerleaders, male stunt partners and a mascot. We support Capital High School and its athletic teams by promoting school spirit and good sportsmanship. As a team, we carry on a tradition of excellence in the athletic arena by producing advanced stunts, encouraging student participation and providing supportive leadership.
Practice Schedule: We begin our regular season practice schedule in mid -August, and continue our season through March. Our regular practice is held in the upstairs wrestling room, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights 5:30 – 7:00 PM, and every Thursday morning from 6:00 to 7:00 AM.
Safety Information: Each cheerleader, stunt partner and mascot MUST have a completed sports physical and signed concussion form before the regular practice season begins in August. We require all cheer team members to participate and correctly perform standard stunting progressions to assure team stunts are safe and performed by experienced team members. Both coaches are required to maintain their AACA certification, and review the mandatory on-line spirit rules video provided by the Montana High School Association.
Forms and Fees: All required forms can be found on the Activities Home Page as well as the CHS Main Office. The activity fee is $80 for the first sport which includes the required activity pass/ticket.
