About our School:

Helena is the capital city of Montana. The school district serves approximately 80,000 people within the city, throughout the Helena Valley, surrounding Lewis and Clark County, and northern Jefferson County. The public school system has eleven elementary schools, two middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, and one alternative high school program that serves both high school populations.

Pattern of School Year: 2 semesters, 90 days per semester, 50-minute class periods, 7 periods per day, and 6 credit-bearing

Graduation Requirements:

23 credits of class work are required for graduation, 16 are required and 7.0 are elective. Semester classes earn .5 credits; full-year courses earn 1.0 credit.

English: 4.0 credits

Social Studies: 3.0 credits (includes economics)

Mathematics: 3.0 credits

Science: 2.0 credits

Human Performance: 1.5 credits

Fine Art: 1.0 credit

CTE: 1.0 credit

Health: 0.5 credit

Elective: 7.0 credits

 

Grading System:

Letter grades of A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0, are given in all areas on an unweighted 4.0 system.  W/F=Withdrew Fail and W/M=Withdrew Medical.
