This hands-on, project-based course takes students deeper into the world of marketing by focusing on the exciting industries of sports and entertainment. Designed for those with a passion for events and creativity, the class expands on core marketing concepts and theories, applying them to real-world scenarios in sports and entertainment marketing. Students will also actively assist in planning and promoting school athletic events, theater productions, and music performances. Key topics include the history and evolution of sports and entertainment marketing, sports and entertainment marketing principles and applications, creating and executing marketing plans, branding, licensing, sponsorships and endorsements, promotion, ticket sales and game day operations, entertainment strategies and event management, marketing communications and public relations, and careers in sports and entertainment marketing. Through collaborative projects, students will develop skills in event planning, campaign execution, and marketing strategy. This course provides valuable experience for students interested in pursuing careers in marketing, sports, entertainment, and event management. This class allows for opportunities in DECA, which plans and implements Night to Shine, an annual talent show. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Prerequisite(s): Marketing Education 1 or instructor approval.
