EXPECTATION OF THE WEEK: 

Be Respectful by honoring public and private property

There will be a Bruins volleyball meeting today at lunch in G1 (health room) regarding summer information.

Grab your lunch and come to book club in the library.

Attention Junior National Honor Society members:  We have our first meeting today at lunch in Room 11.  We will be nominating officers.   See you there.

Vigilante rosters and insurance forms can be completed online anytime. The registration committee will have these printed out for you when you turn in all other paperwork, Tuesday through Thursday after school. At the registration times listed in the parade regulations, your chairperson will bring 2 copies of your historical essay, a printed-out map to your build site, workday affidavits from each member on your committee, and a signed adult supervisor form.

Senior Awards Night is coming up! Seniors, if you have received a scholarship or college award, please bring a copy of it the Career Center asap so we can recognize you on Senior Awards Night!

Please sign up for a chance to participate in the first ever CHS DEAL OR NO DEAL on May 8th during the pep assembly.  Players will be chosen at random for the game.  There will be 2 from each class chosen. The sign-up coffee cans will be in the office.

Are you interested in representing Capital High on the Helena District School Board as a student representative?  Students are eligible to serve a one-year term during their junior or senior year.  If interested, you can pick up an application starting today in the career center.  Applications are due to Barb Ridgway at the May Butler Center by April 26th.  Interviews are scheduled to take place the week of May 6th.

April is the official Month of the Military Child.  Due to this fact, this month is a good time to recognize and show our respect to all Military Youth for the sacrifices they make to celebrate them as the strong and resilient individuals that they are.  Montana has over 6,000 military-connected youth and hundreds of kids across the state will have a parent deployed in 2019.  In light of the Month of the Military Child, on Thursday, 2nd period teachers will give you the link to watch the video produced by the Child and Youth Program of Montana.  The short video will play during announcement time. Likewise, please remember to wear purple on Thursday to celebrate the Month of the Military Child.

We will feature Green Screen video and robotics at our FABLAB today during lunch.   Bring your lunch and come to the library.

.If you would like to participate in a basketball activity during the Pep Assembly on February 6th, put your name in at the office for a chance of being chosen! Names will be chosen from each grade level at the pep assembly. We need students from all classes, so please stop by the office now through February 1st. There is a chance to win prizes, including prom tickets for upperclassmen!

.Winter Formal tickets will be sold through January 30th. Tickets WILL NOT be sold at the door, so go to the foyer during lunch and make sure you are buying your ticket ahead of time. Tickets are one for $20 or two from $35.

.We are excited to announce that University of Montana President Seth Bodnar will be coming to Capital High School next Tuesday, January 29! All students are welcome to join him in the auditorium at lunch!

.Any Freshman through Senior boy not involved in a winter activity who wishes to come out for Track and Field:  There will be a general meeting Tuesday, January 29th, in the classroom below the Training Room.  The meeting will start at 3:30.

.All sophomore students will take the CRT science assessment during their regularly scheduled BIOLOGY class March 12-14.  Please plan in advance to be present for the assessment

  1. Purchase by THURSDAY the 24th for $80. If you purchase on or after January 25th the cost goes up to $85 as we are guessing how many books we need and we usually only buy 50 above whatever is ordered by the 24th.
  2. You Purchase online at yearbookforever.com or in person with Mrs. Selch in room 216 or Mrs. Dioso the book keeper

 

. There will be an important meeting for all those interested in playing tennis today at lunch in Coach Swenson’s room 207. Important information including pre-season paperwork, fundraising, and tryout format will be discussed.  This is an important meeting, so if you are unable to attend, make sure to touch base with Coach Swenson this week!

 

.We are excited to announce that University of Montana President Seth Bodnar will be coming to Capital High School next Tuesday, January 29! All students are welcome to join him in the auditorium at lunch!

.DECA will meet today at lunch in Tech 1. We will be discussing state and more fundraising opportunities.

Young people are making an impact on democracy in a way that has never been seen before. Join Youth in Government and see where you fit in. Run for governor, be a senator, lawyer, representative, judge, or reporter. At the same time, you will make great friends across the state and learn about democracy. Come to the Youth in Government meeting Tuesday, January 22 and find out what it is all about.

There will be a girl’s cross-country meeting on Wednesday at lunch in the Career Center. All team members and those who are interested in joining cross country are invited for pizza and to meet the new head coach.

Power lifting meeting at noon in weight room on Wednesday

Students in Mrs. Anderson Photography class have been decorating the ceiling tiles. You will be amazed by the School Beautification Project recently installed in the Music wing. The goal of the project is to inspire students in the areas that they are most interested in personally, priming students to become involved in art, music, science, math, sports, clubs etc. We want the school to be a comfortable, fun & inspiring place for students to learn. We want students to feel like this is their space. You can find the art beautification Part I in the music wing and Part II in the library foyer. Coming soon is Part III for the main foyer.

Need some special treatment before semester exams? Well, you’re in luck! The QSA Club wants to treat you with a bake sale January 10th and 11th at lunch in the main foyer. Come buy some delicious baked goods and support our club!

DECA club members need to come get your permission packets in Tech-1!!

Our Capital High Bruin Cheer Team is participating in a cheer competition this Saturday at Carroll College, around 3:15, with awards announced at 4:30.  Please come and support the cheerleaders as they compete against 5 other teams including the crosstown rivals.  There is a $5.00 admission fee for students and $8.00 for adults

Any boy not involved in a winter activity is invited to Track workouts after school.  Today workouts start at 3:30. We will be on the North Deck in the gymnasium.

This will give you a great head start on the season.  Start thinking about getting your physical and your concussion form signed for the upcoming season.
