This hands-on, project-based course introduces students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and small business management. Designed for aspiring business leaders and entrepreneurs or those who have an entrepreneurial spirit, the class emphasizes practical skills and real-world application. Students will explore the steps to starting and running a successful business, including developing business ideas and writing comprehensive business plans, crafting effective marketing strategies, identifying funding sources and managing finances, understanding accounting principles for small businesses, and navigating human resource management. Through collaborative projects, students will create their own business concepts and plans, analyze market opportunities, and develop strategies for success. This course encourages creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork, providing the foundation for entrepreneurial ventures and future career opportunities. Whether you are moving into higher education or entering the working world, SBM will provide an easier understanding of advanced business principles. This class allows for opportunities in DECA, which plans and implements Night to Shine, an annual talent show. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
