Last Chance Audubon Society Scholarship

The Last Chance Audubon Society (LCAS) is pleased to announce that up to two awards of $1000 each will be made to graduating seniors from high schools in the Helena School District. The purpose of the scholarships is to provide financial support to help selected students with their freshman-year college expenses.

Qualifications: Students may apply who anticipate being accepted to a college or university of their choice and who have agreed to attend that institution. Students who apply must have an interest in college/university studies related to habitat protection, conservation, and/or restoration of value to avian and other wildlife species.

  • LCAS application, selection process and schedule is posted on LCAS website (http://www.lastchanceaudubon.org/learning/Scholarship/)
  • Students download application form, complete their applications, and email to scholarship@lastchanceaudubon.org with a teacher’s letter of recommendation. (Teacher’s letters can be emailed separately, if preferred.)
  • Applications are due no later than April 15, 2022  to allow enough time for college admission notifications/decisions.
  • LCAS’s three-member selection committee reviews applications, ranks applicants individually, and then reach committee consensus on awards by the end of April. Up to two awards will be made each year.
  • LCAS selection committee makes selection(s) by April 30th and notifies the LCAS Board.
  • All students are notified of the Board decision including those students not receiving an award.
  • LCAS issues press release and selected students are reminded to notify their schools to publicize the LCAS award(s) at school commencement (s).
  • Checks sent or presented to students in early-mid August upon proof of college/ university registration.
