EXPECTATION OF THE WEEK: 

Be a Graduate by making sure you earn 23 credits while at CHS

Invitations to apply for National Honor Society have been handed out by your home room teacher. If you did not receive one but feel you should have, please see Mr. Zarnowski in Room 12. For those of you applying, the application deadline is Wednesday, March 18th, by the end of the school day.

Boys Track and Field has just started.  If you are interested in participating, please come to the gym at 3:30 to sign up.  We would love to have you!

Next year’s juniors and seniors, if you want to help with Bruin Beginnings in the fall, please get your applications turned into Ms. Morand in room 104 right away.  If you need an application, pick one up from the folder outside room 104.  We need at least 80 volunteers to make Bruin Beginnings happen, so please, please, please fill out an application ASAP.  Thanks!

Attention students in AP classes:  if you need to make ANY changes to your AP exam status (e.g. you dropped your AP class at semester, you are no longer taking the exam, you decided to take the exam after the 11/15 deadline, or will need to test late due to acceptable circumstances), see Mrs. Berg in the counseling office by today.

EXPECTATION OF THE WEEK:

There is a mandatory Powerlifting meeting today March 10th, at lunch, in the weight-room.  We will be covering opening lifts, registration, sweatshirt & t-shirt purchases, and sponsorships.

Seniors, if you are filling out an application for the BEAR Award, the applications are due today to the counselors. If you don’t complete the application, you will not get the award at graduation even if you have completed the requirements, so please get the application in ASAP.

Boys Track and Field Team will meet in the Wrestling Room at 2:30 on Monday, March 9th. Please be there on time.

Are you thinking about getting a job this summer?? Avoid running all over town and filling out multiple applications, and apply online with the Helena Summer Jobs program. This program will provide you with a job in an area of interest making at least $9 per hour.  The application is open until March 20.

There will be a meeting for all students interested in playing tennis today at lunch in Coach Swenson’s room. We will discuss tryouts, the schedule, and other important info regarding Bruin Tennis this spring. Please make an effort to be at this meeting on Wednesday at lunch. If you cannot attend, make sure you talk to Coach Swenson before March 9th.

There will be a Senior Class meeting at lunch in room 215 today. 

If you have borrowed an old cheer uniform from the cheer team, please return items to Coach Sue by today.  For those students on Sue’s list of unreturned items, a 180.00 fine will be assessed, until all items are returned. Thank you for your cooperation.

Liz Burke from the United States Forest Service will be here to talk about the Youth Forest Monitoring program at lunch today in Mrs. Urban’s room 233.Come hear about the summer job opportunity working with the Forest Service this summer!!!

Expectation of the Week:

Attention students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses:

Payment for the AP exams begins Thursday, Oct 10th and runs through Thursday, Oct 31st.  The cost is $100 per exam and should be paid through the bookkeeper.

This week is Career Week in the Career Center for those students who will be entering the workforce or military out of high school.

On Tuesday we will offer a career Q&A luncheon. Pizza will be provided.

On Thursday we will offer a military careers Q&A at lunchtime.

A representative from Missoula College will be in the Career Center today at 11:30 am.

A representative from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont will be in the Career Center tomorrow at 2:30. Please see Mrs. Doran if you would like a pass to either of these presentations.

Senior trip? Family time? Christmas? Birthday? Graduation gift? College entrance boost? Educational opportunity of a Lifetime?  You name it!!!!  Come with Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Butler to Rome and Greece and cross off an epoch travel experience from your bucket list!  Come to our Wednesday, October 23rd parent/student fundraising meeting in the photo room T 7 at 5:30.  See you there!

For anyone interested in playing tennis this spring, there will be an informational meeting in Coach Swenson’s room (207) at lunch next Tuesday. We will discuss open gym dates and times, important season information, our fundraiser, and a new  club membership scholarship. This meeting will be brief but it is important. If you cannot attend the meeting, please see Coach Swenson next week to get the information. Bring a friend to room 207 at lunch next Tuesday if you are interested in playing tennis this spring, we hope to see you there!

Join Youth in Government and see where you fit in. Run for governor, be a senator, lawyer, representative, judge, or reporter. At the same time, you will make great friends across the state and learn about democracy. Come to the Youth in Government meeting today and find out what is all about!

Thank you to all of you who donated kids’ food pack items for Food Share- Capital High ended up winning the crosstown food drive as it was announced at crosstown volleyball last Thursday evening.  Students from CHS are able to attend the volleyball games this Tuesday night for free as a result of the victory. Bring your school ID.

Anyone interested in forming an eSports advisory committee, please sign up in the library this week.

If you are NOT submitting a personal photo to the yearbook and want to use your LifeTouch photo, make sure you go see Mrs. Selch or send an email to capitaldomeyearbook@gmail.com and let them know! We need to know your plan for your senior photo space. EVERY senior needs to take action and either submit their photo or state they want to use LifeTouch. Thank you!

Do you like to mock movies? Do you want to watch the cheesiest things you’ve ever seen? Come to the library at lunch on Wednesdays and enjoy Afterschool Specials from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s and other hilariously campy educational videos.

Today is trivia in the library! Gather your team and be sure to bring an adult to help you on our history of music day!

Juniors!  Registration for the PSAT is still open and runs through October 9th.  The fee is $16 and can be paid through the book keeper.  The PSAT is Wednesday, October 16th.  You will receive more details about the exam when you register.
