The best of the local showings may have belonged to Helena High’s Carly Smiedala, who recorded a 57.93 in the 400, crossing nearly two seconds in front of the second-place finisher, Olivia Burgad from Missoula Sentinel. The time is among the fastest run in the state this season and a new meet record, though just off from the 57.56 she ran at her last meet in Great Falls.
Glacier sensation Annie Hill turned in a pair of meet-record performances as well, recording a 2:11.26 to win the and taking the 1,600 in 4:46.69. She won both events by more than seven seconds.
In other girls track events, Capital’s Elena Carter ran her best time of the season in the 100 hurdles, taking third with a 15.43, and the Bruins finished third in the sprint relay, in 51.41. Helena High’s girls won the 1,600-meter relay, in 4:05.53, trimming three and a half seconds off their preview best.”
