Hello. Welcome to Ms. Amanda Plona’s Capital High webpage.

Animated PowerPoint Presentation
Of Shakespeare

To further examine the wonderful language of William Shakespeare, you will research quotations from Shakespeare’s sonnets and plays to find a phrase that is personally insightful and meaningful to you.

Good place to start:

http://absoluteshakespeare.com/trivia/quotes/quotes.htm
http://www.sparknotes.com/shakespeare/
http://www.opensourceshakespeare.org/ Entire plays are available here.
http://www.shmoop.com/shakespeare-quotes/
http://www.shmoop.com/romeo-and-juliet/quotes.html

You may search for a short quotation but must then find the source of the phrase.
For example, if you find, “To be or not to be,” you must then search for the work in which the line appears. The act, scene, and line notations for plays will lead you to the source.
From the source, record more of the quotation for a more complete thought.

Example:

Quote from Romeo and Juliet

“If love be rough with you, be rough with love.
Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down.”

Here’s the quote in context

ROMEO

Is love a tender thing? It is too rough,
Too rude, too boist’rous, and it pricks like thorn.

MERCUTIO

If love be rough with you, be rough with love.
Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down.

It turns out, Mercutio is giving Romeo advice on how to handle love. Romeo is talking about about how painful love is and Mercutio gives Romeo advice that in order win at love, you must treat love roughly.

Now your application of technology will allow to you to create an original, artful, and engaging animated PowerPoint to present your choice of Shakespeare’s work to the class.

Your PowerPoint must include multiple effects.

The presentation should be saved in your own personal “U” drive under your username. On the day before you are to present it in class, copy it to Labarea in the folder “PlonaAmanda”.

Scoring of 50 points will be dependent upon the quality of your animation and representation of a worthy quotation.

A one paragraph paper of no less than five sentences describing why you chose this quotation is due after you present your slide show.
