To enroll at Capital High School, students must provide the following:
**Registration Packets may be picked up at the main office or found below
Upon receiving the needed items above, we will register the student in PowerSchool and contact you toward the beginning of the school year to set up an appointment with your student’s School Counselor. During your meeting, your student will be enrolled in the appropriate classes. Please feel free to call the office at 406.324.2500 with any questions.
If you are looking to enroll as a new student at CHS, please print out the following packet and complete it prior to your appointment with a counselor. Appointments can be made by calling 324-2500.
If you are planning to enroll in CHS, but live outside the district, please also complete the packet below in addition to the enrollment pages above.
For a list and description of classes offered here at CHS, please see our Registration Guide page
We are sad to see you go, but we understand that sometimes things happen. If you are leaving CHS for any reason you will need to the form below.
Fill out the above form and bring it to your counselor. A Withdraw Form will be created for you to pick up on the last day of attendance at CHS. This form requires you to get a signature from all you teachers as well as the library (to turn in text books and library books), the book keeper, and your administrator. Submit the Withdraw Form to the Registrar in the Main Office so that she can finalize the withdrawal from CHS and provide you with a copy of your transfer grades and immunization records – this aids in the enrollment process at the new school you will be attending.
Please understand we cannot officially remove you from our enrollment until these forms are complete and submitted. Once we have received a request for records from your new school, we will send them the rest of your cumulative file.
Students who register once the school year has already begun, may see Sherri Colberg in the Library to pick up their textbooks. If you have questions please contact her at (406) 324-2503.

Small Learning Communities are designed to help freshmen students transition successfully from the middle school “team” atmosphere to the high school environment. Three groups of three teachers each represent the SLC system at Capital High School. Students are randomly selected to be included in an SLC and are placed on a specific team in accordance with their schedule. Each student on the SLC will have at least two, if not all three, of the teachers on that SLC.
The SLC teachers meet daily to discuss student progress, conduct student and parent meetings, and collaborate with each other, the administration, and other teachers in order to maximize the success achieved by each and every student. When a student begins to fall behind academically, the SLC teachers will work with that student to get back on track. If this is not effective, parent and administrator meetings are organized and scheduled.
CHS has a partnership with the Montana Digital Academy for supplementation of courses not offered by CHS, credit recovery, and enrinchment. We encourage you to go to the MTDA WEBSITE to see their current course offerings.
If you are interested in signing up for a course, please fill out the form below and see your counselor.
